• Although a general contractor has ample knowledge of construction, he will not have the experience, knowledge or practice of drawing floor plans, understanding how you use your kitchen and its functions or space planning.
• A kitchen & bath designer is very skilled at assessing each client’s individual needs and creating designs that exceed these requirements. Let’s face it, a builder, handy man or contractor may do the construction side of your project well; but does he have the same expertise, knowledge and experience as a designer? Will he be concerned with the design and function of your space?
• Your NKBA designer will be able to guide you to the latest kitchen and bath design ideas, including the best colors, finishes, materials and products to create your dream space. Your designer will find creative solutions using materials that will meet budget requirements without sacrificing style and functionality. The same applies with Space planning, a builder or contractor will ultimately attempt to steer you through the path of least resistance.
• If your project involves construction you will still need a General Contractor to do this portion. But your design professional is key in to guide you through the process also. If budget is a concern and you have to choose between one or the other, your designer can help you hire all the professional trades involved; such as a demo expert, carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc. Your design professional already has a relationship with all these trades.
