AN OUTDOOR ROOM

Sea Interior Design is thrilled to participate in the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

WEEK # 6

SPRING 2021

Hello Peeps, Hope you all had a great week. Here we are only 2 weeks before the reveal of the OUTDOOR ROOM.There is not much to tell regarding the progress this week, except for we are making good progress and some of the changes are so impactful that it seems like we accomplished more. Yet, at times when our household is functioning it feels like we take three steps forward and one back. Why?Well, remember this is a working terrace/patio. There is a grill and a laundry “closet” here too and when there is laundry staged to be done, or to be dried; it does not look pretty. Same if there are items that cannot go in the dryer and we want to air dry, a clothes horse is added to the already busy/messy mix.The best way to see the progress is with pictures, so check it out.

THIS IS OUR PROGRESS.

Here is our progress on our outdoor patio makeover:

  • We hung the panels for that “cabana look” and suddenly had second thoughts.

I am not sure if you know, but for the most part my personal aesthetic is clean, crisp white walls, with black accents. Especially the last 3 or so years I have been drawn to neutrals and earthy tones. Typically, I tend to add colors that are not bright, or neon. The only bright color I use often is bright white on ceilings, or as a trim color. But I do like sprinkles of well-chosen colors -chosen based on the feeling I want the space to evoke, the purpose of the room/space, and the overall style.I love patterns, but I can’t say that I use a lot of patterns on pattern. Again, when I mix patterns, I go by the scale of each pattern and limit it to 2 or 3 and ultimately there is a stripe in the mix.

COLORFUL FUN PATTERNS - NO RULES APPLY

Rule?"Cheerful Summers".  An outdoor room somewhere in Cuban Florida.
Check out the progress and tell me what you think. Cheers! Rebecca O'Rourke, Interior Designer, Southern California
