Styling A Space With Just A Few Items
Start With What You Have
Styling a space with just a few items, a bookshelf or a coffee table is the key to making your space look polished and pulled together. In this blog post, "Styling A Space With Just A Few Items," we'll discuss how to mix new items with older ones, how to repurpose pieces, and how to re-use items from other rooms rather than going shopping.
Adding pieces of art, furniture, and other things that you truly love is how you create a curated home that is uniquely yours!
Style A Space To Create Definition
The challenge is to create a comfortable, functional space for this smaller-than-small living room. The elements or pieces we are adding at this time are some additional art and a rug to define this space as the living room. This isn't a lot and in some cases may not be enough to pull it all together and for the space to be functional.
Style A Space For Functionality
I will add a couple of side tables and matching table lamps to button it up nicely. In addition, we also have to work existing elements into the plan, including the sofa. There is also a long wall -- 110-inches to be exact. We must also consider the position of the sofa in relation to the television. This is a case of form and function, and visa versa.
Pulling It All Together
I started to look for a rug that would fit the following criteria:
Add some interest and a bit of color.
Couldn’t be too bright or overwhelming.
Had to relate to other patterns and colors throughout the space.
Then, I set out to select the art that that would also complement two pieces of existing art.
