A Rebirth Makeover

One Room Challenge Week #1

 Ok so here's the scoop.Since I have to move suddenly because my studio flooded seven times in less than 2 years, I decided to take on THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE and style the new office.  Budget is a consideration, so at least at first I need to reuse some of the displays & furniture.I will repurpose a lot of what I already have but, I want a different look and feel with my usual touch. This new space needs to inspire me, it is a sort of rebirth and it needs to function efficiently.I am torn between a classic look such as the Phillips Jeffries wallpaper, with a touch of glam. OR more of modern chic office with the black & white swallows wallpaper by Sanderson, but continue with gold touches. This space is small and needs to remain bright and airy or clients may feel claustrophobic.The new space is only a little over 160 square feet and although fewer displays and furniture are going in, I still have to store samples, books, office equipment etc.

Update

A few new considerations have come to light after the graphic and inspiration board was created. This is a temporary home for SEA INTERIOR DESIGN so since the move was so sudden and timing was off.  We have decided that this makeover needs to mostly be functional to maximize the space, house some displays etc... but most of all, it needs to be UBER INSPIRING… However, it wouldn’t make business sense to invest a tone here to move in six to eight months again.I love that saying “Genius is born in limitation”, it usually works great with clients who are unable to hone into a nice blend of a couple of styles, but who are all over the place. They like a lot but all of it doesn’t necessarily flow. So this being the space where I spend countless hours, it has to fulfill many functions and right now I am suffering a bit from “all over the place syndrome” too.During Week #2 of The One Room Challenge, I should be able to add another graphic with updated finishes & plan.

I have a plan for these cabinets but not sure if

I can get it done within the six weeks.

So Here Are The Challenges To Consider While Creating This UBER INSPIRING REBIRTH OFFICE

The challenges:

• Existing pieces from the studio
• Floor color (dark grey)
• Downsizing from 750 sqft. To 160 sqft
• Budget (Temporary home)

 

Existing Room Description:

Bland office suite and mine is located at the end of a long hall. The reception area is also bland and has the most hideous plastic dusty plants. The positive aspects are white walls, black plastic baseboards (not that they are plastic but that they are black), and a neutral charcoal grey carpet.The truth is that any place I rent now in this situation is not going to seem beautiful and of course the negatives are going to jump out. But here is the thing, I am not going to stop doing what I do and do very well and what I love doing because of floods, even if there were seven of them. I am choosing to see this as an opportunity to cut on overheads, save some funds that I will need for the next location, to offer my family a bit of relief and am also going to make this room into a great office/intimate studio and continue to serve my clients with passion and dedication. You know how the song goes, "Home is wherever I'm with you…"This is SEA INTERIOR DESIGN's new home and we are going to make it Rock!

Based on a smaller budget for makeover these are some of the wallpapers I am considering. Please, feel free to chime in and give your opinion.

Floorplan

Wall measurements: #1 = 130” Doorway is: 31 ¼” & The rest of the wall is 95 ½” #2 & #4 = 178 ¾” #3 = Window is 59 ½” x 65 ½” - The rest of the wall is: 72”Things I can not change:

• Grey display:
• Base cabinets: 74” length 36” finished height with Quartz Silestone top.
• Walls: 78” (The end cabinet is a tower that sits on the counter)
• Tall unit at opposite end: 18 ¼” w. But this piece I have to use it separately because it won’t fit on
• Wall A where I had planned to place it originally.

The final arrangement will come about once the white display cabinets are disassembled at old studio and brought here. More to come week #2.Wish me luck I am working with boxes, uninstalled cabinets and with a limited library here and the rest of my work tools at a remote location.Have you read Week #2 and Week #3?
